Can you  change it back to the default ringer if you want or is that gone once you chnage it?

You can use the defaults still.

i kinda got annoyed with the ringer not shutting up after i answer the msg so i wanted to just go back to the vibrate so i put the tone on default and it still played the ringer... am i doing this wrong?

I have put my ringers back to default as well....i got annoyed with it still ringing even after u pick it up and rings while you're on a call.  It also drains my battery quicker than on default settings.  With all the text messeges i get...i saved about 50% of battery life when i switched to default.

Juz saying...

Have you installed it properly?

Go here for instructions: http://www.palmpreforum.org/index.php?topic=2713.0

I don't know though if this app still works because of the recent update.

I don't understand why the pre doesn't simply have a THEME folder allowing us to edit / replace / rename settings and customize it using our desktop / usb cable Huh?

Palm is working on things. The phone is still in very early stages of development. Sure it is lacking some basic features but as you can see Palm is hard at work at releasing updates. I have a feeling we will get fixes for these things soon. In the meantime you can just use the Homebrew apps they are extremely easy to use and I have written up guides on how to do things.
