There are a ton of ways to do this but this is by far the easiest.

If you have never installed a homebrew app before use the following method.

If you HAVE installed homebrew apps before then all you need is the "My Notification" app so feel free to grab it.

What you will need:
webOS SDK: http://developer.palm.com/
and
My Notifications: http://forums.palmpreforum.org/spe_attachment/download-23717-org.webosinternals.kaerey.app.mynotification_0.1.3_all.ipk

Download the above files then follow this guide to get "My Notifications" onto your phone: http://www.palmpreforum.org/index.php?topic=2713.0

And to get us started feel free to use my Mario coin ringtone I have attached.

Is this the updated version? I only ask because PMP was advising not to install this until after they have updated it. Apparently there were some major issues with it, and not being able to delete it, etc.

Very nice! After an hour of looking through my music collection I figured out my first incoming txt "ringer".. Attached below. 2 seconds of the intro from Queen Under Pressure.

... updated to make notification a little louder

I think I am going to wait to get this App until it is updated to where I am able to delete it. Cause I don't want something that wasn't approved by Palm that I am unable to delete. But I totally want it!! Can't wait for an updated version.

Well I downloaded the app and I am glad that I can change my text ringtone. But I'm not to happy with the fact that it plays that sound when I hold the power button down and place the Pre on the Touchstone. I would like to be able to keep the original sounds for those. Hopefully when Palm decides to let us use custom tones for sms that this will not be an issue.

Also what is the difference between the notification tone and the alert tone?? I know the notification is for text. But what is the alert for?

Wow this was so easy to install! I know there's a way to change the Pre so that the call log shows actual minutes used on a phone call. Can you post a link like this one that could change that for me? I'm a little nervous about manually changing code on my Pre. It would be nice to have an easy link to click on that does all the work for me.  Smiley
