Hello from a former Samsung Instinct user

Hi all, I am a former Samsung Instinct user. It served me well for a year, but I needed an upgrade with more robust Internet browsing. I've owned a few smart phones in the past, including PPC6700, PPC6800

I previously modified my Instinct as a data modem (sshhh don't tell Sprint), so I'm hoping the Pre can do the same.

I got a Pre today and went thru the install for the latest WebOS (1.3.1 I think), and it's great so far!

I'm looking forward to finding all the cool tips & tricks on this forum.

Welcome to the forum! For using your pre as a modem you might want to check out the following link, it's the only tethering program available to the pre. Keep in mind that to tether via usb is free, but if you want to turn your pre into a wireless router you have to donate $15.

Welcome! Mytether is great. I have the donation version myself. PALM made it a little more difficult for the developer to make work now though, the newest patch requires you to disable to camera functionality to use the wireless router feature (it can be turned back on though when you are done, just requires a restart). It is worth it though if you need that feature.
