 hi,
new to palm pre.
athough i had a M500, treo 650, treo 680 and now proud owner of a pre.
i also have a (in fact 2) questions

1. when i try to download an app i always get the message 'app catalog unavailable try again later' and this since 3 days. i wonder what later means. maybe it's me. did i omit to initiate some account...?

2. i would like to run my old programs like splash wallet, butler, splash notes. has anyone experience with the classic application. do i also need to install a sync tool like companionlink ? (i know, these are 2  questions in one.) ;-)

greetz & thx

i usually go to the app catalog when am on wifi.  cannot give input to your 2nd issue since did not have the original palm OS on anything.  enjoy your pre!

I have Classic, and I find that it works ok for some but not all of my old Palm applications.  Even the ones that do work in the Classic environment prove to be difficult on the Pre, because my finger is so much blunter an instrument than my old stylus was (and you would need a very special stylus to work on the Pre), and because the Pre has no 5-way or even 2-way button.  So, on balance, I rarely use my old Palm applications.

I'm not familiar with companionlink.  I use Missing Sync to sync my Pre calendar and address book with my computer (a Mac).  Others sync their Pres with their Google accounts, and then sync their Google accounts with their computers.
