I was very excited when one of the recent updates made it possible to use a ringtone as a text message notification. However, I've found that this feature SUCKS. It comes out sounding all quiet and muffled. Is anyone else having this problem? Does anyone know how I can fix it???
Thanks!

Mine comes out loud and clear. Are you sure it's not the ringtone thats muffled? or maybe the volume is turned down?

No, the volume is definetely turned all the way up. I tried downloading sound clips and I also tried creating my own (taking clips from songs). I even used a program to amplify the ones I created. Everything I try sounds crappy as a text notification. Are you using the tones that came already on the Pre, or have you put your own on your phone? If you've downloaded them from somewhere and have had good luck w/ a site, can you please tell me what it is? Thanks!

I just use iTunes to create my mp3 ringtones.  Look here: http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20040522031438915

It is Mac related site, but the tip also works on Windows version of iTunes.

I use a ringtone for text notification I created as an MP3 with Audacity.  It is loud and clear.  When creating ringtones, I set the volume level at 6.  All of my ringtones are loud and can hear it easily.  If you search in the ringtone section, there are louder Pre ringtones that were created.  Try one of those, hopefully it will work better.
