there might be another thread out there that deals with this already but i didn't find anything related to it in the Search box....

How can I synchronize my Pre calander with my work calander? Before it was real simple with the Active Sync software but I do not see any method of doing it with the software that the Pre comes with.

Thanks in advance!

Did you try creating a new Exchange email account yet?  If that didn't work you can open a google account and sync your outlook calendar with your google.  Then add google to your pre as one of your calendars and it will sync wirelessly.  I found this website really helpful:

that sounds interesting... Not sure if I would want to do that because I don't think I would be comfortable posting work information on a outside source. I might get fired for that now that I think of it! haha

I tried doing the Exchange thing you mentioned but how do I get my PRE to sync up to the Outlook calendar through my laptop?

Before it was quite simple.

1. Connect phone (700wx and my 800) to my laptop via cable
2. Active Sync would kick off on its own
3. It would sync any items I have selected and viola! all done...

the pre syncs wirelessly, so you don't need your laptop.  Follow these steps to set up your EAS account:

go to your calendar
click on the drop down menu (top left where it says calendar)
select preferences and accounts
scroll to the bottom and select Add an account
select Microsoft Exchange
enter your email address and password and click sign in
You will be prompted for the following info:
Incoming Mail Server
Domain
Username

If you don't have that info, check with one of your IT Administrators to provide.
you should be able to log in that way.  Once you do that, you will be able to transfer all of your data wirelessly.  Anytime you add anything to your Outlook calendar, it will transfer to your phone and vice versa.

If that doesn't work for you, your only other choice will be to use the google sync or purchase 3rd party software like PockeMirror or Companionlink (the info for those are on the site that I listed earlier).

The Exchange server sync didn't work for me because Palm does not support my company's security settings.  I went through Google sync and don't have any issues.  Good luck.

thanks for the response "elitechic0531"...

but the PRE syncs wirelessly to what?

First, my phone would need to have a wi-fi conneciton to my works network. (which we do not have in my area)

Secondly, if I could use a wi-fi connection I would still have to attach to the internal LAN/WAN somehow so I would need to VPN in. Otherwise my phone, (Though on a wireless connection) would not even be able to see my works LAN/WAN...

Lastly, that is why there should be a way to do it via a cable and your pc/laptop like ActiveSync.... But as you already mentioned... PocketMirror version(which is not out yet I think) and the Google/Gmail option, that I cannot use becuase of security purposes.

No Wireless(VPN) connection to Work + No GoogleSync = me.screwed      Cry

Have you tried setting up your exchange account as yet?  Your phone is already connected to the internet.  Once you enter your server info, your phone will connect with your server and retrieve the data.  I used to have a treo, so I'm familiar with Active sync.  It is pretty simple.  Once you get your exchange account set up, it is actually even easier than active sync. you'll never have to use the USB cables again to sync your info.  Active sync would have solved my problem though, since Palm doesn't support my company's security settings  Embarrassed

If you do not have an exchange account, tri gsyncit from www.daveswebsite.com. It is a $10 program that syncs outlook to google and the phone will sync with google. It is a round about way of syncing between Outlook and the Pre but it works.

Thanks to all who replied BUT PLEASE READ!!  Smiley

1. I cannot do the Google Sync thing becuase there may sensitive/proprietary information in meeting requests and things. USING THIS WILL POST OUR COMPANIES INFO IN SOMEONE ELSES DATABASE

2. You cannot connent to a Private LAN/WAN without using a Secure Tunneling software like Nortel VPN, Cisco Secure VPN etc. SO YOU CANNOT JUST WIRELESSLY CONNECT TO STUFF UNLESS YOU ARE ON THE SAME NETWORK

Pocket Mirror is available from the app catalog. I tried it and it works BUT if you are VPN'ing into work you must get out of VPN then sync your device. stinks but that is the way you do it.
