Has anyone had the problem with their phone going offline (where it physically says 'phone offline' in the upper right hand corner)?  I have had this problem on 2 pre's in the past week and technical support cannot tell me what the problem is.

When is this happening, when you are on wifi or Sprint, or both? Since this has happened on two Pres, I guess it's an issue with your Sprint coverage.

Well... I think the obvious question is: Are you out of service range?

If you should have service, restart/reset your phone. Check out the sticky topic in this forum.

Do you have this problem at all when you are on wifi? If not it's a Sprint coverage issue for sure, you should call Sprint. Maybe you have a signal which is not good for a ev-do data connection, I don't know.

Ok check if it also happens when you are on wifi. If it doesn't, call Sprint. Either way, you could try a soft reset (link in my sig), although I don't think it's a phone issue because it's your second.

I think you should just go into sprint and tell them your problem and have them fix it. Stop worrying about figuring it out yourself, you shouldn't have to deal with it. That's what sprint stores are there for, to fix your phone when there's an issue or provide a sensible and fair solution. If they tell you they don't know what to do or if they make you pay, kindly demand that this is obviously an error on their side and not tours and it is expected that it is resolved. Don't let them get away with cheapness/laziness.

And what tell-tale signs let you know the person is a good rep?

well personally i would look for a representitive that looks like he doesn't care because they tend to give out free things, like car chargers, extra batterys, touch stone backs because they really dont care if they get fired.

if i don't find that i look for preferably a girl representitive thats smiling and call me weird if you like but i just tend to either get negative energy when i feel like i see a bad representitive

I just look fo the cutest female rep, then at least if I dont get what I want, I might get a phone number out of the deal...  Cool
