On my last pre, which was a launch day pre, it came off. It was off for about a month and nothing ever got in there and messed it up. If it bugs you, you could always take it by sprint and just ask. If you do decide to take by sprint and they have multiple  stores near you I've found it best to go onto google maps and find one near you with the highest reviews; some sprint stores are real strict on what they can do and others are more lenient.
