I am wondering if anyone has seen or heard of an app that will allow you to selectively block incoming calls.  I know of several other palm phones supported a download for it and it was very useful to block unknown numbers.

I did a lot of research on this at one point (you know crazy ex-girlfriend's can kind of motivate you) and while i never found a direct answer, there were a lot of workarounds.

Here is a link to a thread that I found kind of useful, had some creative ideas:

If you decide that you would like to keep your cell phone number a secret, you will need to block your number. Blocking your number can be done temporarily or permanently. Temporarily blocking your number on a call by call basis is a good idea if there are only a few people whom you wish to hide your number from. To temporarily block your number so it is not displayed on the recipients caller ID simply dial *67 before dialing the number (I.E. *67 111-111-1111).iPhone 5 release date

I didn't find any application for selectively block the calls. But you can stop the incoming calls by taking help of telephone operating services.

BuzzOff will block any phone number, block callers with private or unknown callerid, do not allow caller to leave a voice mail. BuzzOff is the only callerID blocking application for the BlackBerry that has Pickup and Hangup feature. This will not allow the caller to leave you a voice mail. The caller will just hear a busy signal or the message from your carrier. You can also select the phone number to block from the CallLog, Messages and AddressBook application. Just select Block Caller from the menu and select the type of block you want.

Features:

* Block any phone number
* Block unknown or private callers
* Block wildcard. eg: 1800* will block all calls starting with 1800
* Pickup and Hangup. Do not allow caller to leave you a voice mail
* Quick block marketing callers: eg: 1800, 1866, 1877 and 1888 callers
* Match last digits in the number. This feature is useful for International users where you can tell BuzzOff to match on the last 3-10 digits in the phone number
* Integrate with CallLog, Messages and AddressBook apps. Block caller directly in these apps
* Very small footprint only 35K
* Easy to use
* Works on OS 4.2 and higher

I know by now that you cannot have a full blown call/sms/mms block app on the iPhone 4 without jail braking it an installing Cydia, but does anybody know if there is an app in existence where you can at least maybe tell the app to ignore communication with someone in your contacts list?

One thing at least is the 'silent ringtone' for all alerts for a specific contact, buuuut, you can still see that the person contacted you tho.

What I would like is an app (without jail braking and/or calling you service provider to block someone cause we don't have that here n South Africa) that doesn't register communication logs from a specific person.

Any such apps anybody has come across? Cause apparently most people on here have iPhones...
