Thank you for the help.  I tried doctoring my phone last night, but it never connects to the phone.  When I connect the phone thru the usb to the computer, I no longer get any options.  The only change is that it looks like it is charging.  Then i get an error message saying the device malfunctioned.  Could that be the issue?  If so, how do I fix that.

I just read what I posted and I made a mistake.

- turn the phone off
- hold down the UP volume button
- plug the phone into the wall, a usb symbol should appear on the screen
- unplug the cable from the wall and plug it into the computer
- run webos doctor

That should do the trick, sorry about any inconvenience I may of caused. I'm not sure why it won't go into usb mode when pressing orange+sym+u after its plugged into the comp. It's worked for me in the past but I havent tried it since the last update.

EDIT: just tried it and it still works

Thanks for all the advice.  Im gonna take my phone into Sprint.  Last night phone took a crap on me.  It freezes and wont reboot unless I take the battery out.  I tried Orange, Symbol, R and  holding the power button.  Nothing working.  I also have a permanent "Too many cards" error, but nothing is open.  Sucks that I lose all my pics and videos though.  Thanks again.

I just read what I posted and I made a mistake.

- turn the phone off
- hold down the UP volume button

Sounds like a bad cable if you only get a charge option.  Try and use another cable and see what happens.

So I took my phone to Sprint today and everything is working fine.  They told me they doctored it.  They said the phone crashed because of all the apps I had on it, which I am skeptical of.  I still had 5.9GB of memory left.  I am curious how many apps you guys typically have on your Pre?

Actually it's entirely possible that any third party apps, patches, or themes you had installed on your phone caused the crashing. I have 112 apps on my pre and it's running like a champ.

Okay.  Thanks for your input.  I guess i just need to be careful.

I hate to continue my rant, but I'm getting a little frustrated.  I was able to install Preware.  But now it seems that my computer only recognized my Pre that one time.  I tried plugging into Quick Install again, computer gives me the "device malfunction" error again. 

Does anyone know why I might keep getting this problem?

It sounds like stringbean might be right. You might have a bad cable.

I have a completely new question that relates to the initial post - I think. I just got my pre last week and I updated it when I got it. But I can't get my my pre to sync with my outlook calendar. It has the palm account as the default and wont let me add the outlook because that POP account is already being used for my emails as well. Also, with my email, it isnt syncing according to schedule and when it does there is  'caution triangle' there all the time now. Any thoughts?

Outlook calendar sync is only available if you are using Exchange, and it doesnt sound like that is your situation.

Which account is giving you the triangle error?  Most times when I have gotten this error, I have removed then recreated the account and then it works, but this was mostly with yahoo mail.
