Once the touch stone has charged the phone, I get woken up by a constant DING letting me know its charging...only started after a couple days of owning the thing...
Any fixes...
Not a happy bunny!
Thanks.

Return it.. same here in Germany, there probably was, and still is, a mass production of faulty touchstones! It's unbelievable they haven't fixed this yet, apparently there's a pretty damn poor quality control.

There is a patch through Preware or webosquickinstall that will remove the charging sound.

That helps imho only temporarily. Those touchstones are broken, I don't know about you guys but I will never buy a 50 Euro accessory (that's $75 and how much it costs here) which I still have to fix by patches or pieces of tape on top of it. Palm needs to take care about their quality control. Three out of four tochstones in many O2 stores here are broken.....

This is true. A lot of people have justified problems by saying that there is a patch to fix it. I appreciate all of the work that people are putting in to make these patches, but many are for things that should have been officially addressed by Palm in the first place. Covering up the sound of the ding only masks the fact that the charger is broken. It's like taping over a broken tail light, sure it solves the problem, but it doesn't necessarily fix it.

I don't know that it is actually justifying a problem, just offering one kind of solution, but as always, there is more than one way to skin a cat.  A lot of these patches fix issues that PALM has no intention of resolving for one reason or another.  And even when they do, sometimes the patch does a better job of it (I.E. the text forwarding patch).  I agree, if you can take the Touchstone back and get one that works correctly without spending money, then that is absolutely the route you should take, but if that option is not available, there are other ways of working around the issue.  My 2cents for the day...  Lips Sealed

You are right as long as it is the software that causes problems. It's also fun to try out patches Wink However, In this case it is a faulty hardware which causes problems, so we have to differentiate between hardware and software related hassles.

Next thing you know, people will be telling you to do crazy stuff, like jamming pieces of paper into your phone to fix issues with it shutting off  Cheesy
