Just started having this problem, wondering if anyone else has encountered a similiar issue:

For the past few days my PRE has been acting a little funny. I will toggle the switch thats next to the power button to change from "noise" to "vibrate" and my PRE will NOT display the notification that I had switched. I move the switch over and absolutley nothing happens, and then sometimes, not always, the notification will pop up on its own a few minutes later. Thats the first problem.

Second, I will be sitting around not even touching my PRE and it will display the notification that it has been set to vibrate mode or audible mode all on its own, without me touching it. For instance, It was in my coat pocket and kept displaying/vibrating that it was switching back and forth between the two modes and I hadn't even touched it. And if I switch it from "noise" mode to "vibrate" and it doesnt display the notification, it will stay in the previous mode until it decides to display the change of modes. Like right now, I have it set on "vibrate", just got a text, and it made noise! Quite aggrivating if I say so myself.

Tech support from Sprint suggested having a Sprint store "reset" my phone with their CELLBRIGHT machine that they use to transfer contacts. But had told me that he had NEVER heard of this problem.

Has anyone else encountered this problem before and found a way to resolve it?? PLease lend a hand if you can!! Thanks in advance.

I have never encountered this problem but there's a few things that I would suggest. If one doesn't work try the next one. Granted if you don't want do any of these things you could just take it to a Sprint store and, depending on the store, if you show them what the problem is they'll replace it.

1. Try doing a soft reset (I'm guessing you've already done this but if you haven't, give it a shot)

2. Try a partial reset (Launcher, Device Info, Reset Options, Partial Erase)

3. Try a full erase (Launcher, Device Info, Reset Options, Full Erase)

The next suggestion is a little technical so if you don't want to do it you can skip it.

4. Use WebOS doctor. You can download the sprint version here,or the bell version here

5. If none f the above works I would take it to a sprint store and get them to replace it.

With the soft reset, partial erase, or full erase will this jeopardize any of my settings/contacts/apps??

The soft reset won't effect any of your settings. The Partial Erase will shut down the phone and erase your applications, but when you power the phone back on you will be prompted to log into your palm profile which will put all of your applications back on your pre. The Full Erase Will erase all your applications and all of your personal files (pictures, music etc.) and I believe it will erase all of your contacts as well, however upon powering up the phone you will be prompted to log in to your palm profile which will restore everything but your personal files.
