I turn off my phone at night.  When I plug in the charger, it turns on my phone.  Does the Pre not stay turned off when charging?  Thanks.

It will stay off when charging. Atleast with the touchstone I know. But plug it in then try turning it off. I did that when it was on the TS for it to charge a little bit faster.

mine stays off.

I wish there was a way to make it STAY ON when plugged in.

What do you mean STAY ON? Of course the phone stays on when you charge it. If it isn't you have a defective phone.

Do you just mean the charging logo?

The phone is off, I plug in the charger and the phone reboots.  This has happened a few times now.  As grymtyrant suggeswted, I turned off the phone with the charger plugged in and it stayed off.  Interestingly, when I pulled out the charger cord, the phone turned on by itself.  I don't see a charging icon though.  Is there supposed to be one?

There isn't a charging icon. I wondered this myself. But no worries. When the phone is off and plugged in it is charging.

When charging with the cable connected either to the wall or a usb port the phone's screen with be off (like stand by).  With the touchstone though the screen is "on" always in a non-bright setting but "on" nonetheless.  There is no fix for this so far.

I don't have the Touchstone and only use USB for charging. Even when I plug it in to charge first, then turn off the phone, it still turns on by itself sometime in the night. I wonder if this is a bug. A co-worker of mine experiences the same thing.

Ya it turns on when it's fully charged. But no worries...if you don't want ur gf to call you while ur at...wherever ur sleeping (I kid lol) instead of turning it off just put it in airplane mode and no calls will be able to go through. That's the only reason I could think of that would make it turning on bad.

Well, gf or not, that's not a good solution for me, but thanks. That means extra steps before I charge my phone and extra steps to use it again. I may even forget to take it out of airplane mode and wonder why I'm not getting any calls. Why couldn't Palm build a nice phone like this to stay off when the user wants it off?

I believe it turns on because they do the online backup of your profile at night.
