OK, after I got my Palm Pre did I find out that it didn't sync with a Palm Desktop-type application.  Although I have found something that comes close (Pocket Mirror), has anyone used it?  If so, did it sync with Outlook as advertised.

Also, unless I have missed it, how can you do a search on the Pre?  Before, if I wanted to know when I last saw Dr. Smith, I could a search via my Centro's keyboard and all Dr. Smith entries would show up. (Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, Memo, etc.)  Can we do that with the Pre?

Lastly, has anyone got a Dymo Label maker work with Outlook?

Thanks for your patience, but my frustration, I'm sure, is a learning curve right now. (But my Centro is looking mighty good right now!)

So John, have you got any of your answers?  I'm on a Centro with Sprint and thinking about the Pre with Verizon.  I am a little concerned about having some regrets.  I've been on a Palm since day one and used to having Desktop with hotsync.  Also I can't imagine not being able to do a search and bringing up all of the entries on a Keyword.  What other "withdrawal" symptoms are you experiencing with the Centro to Pre switch.  Thanks, Bob

I'm expecting my new Pre today via UPS. I am migrating from a Treo 755 and would like to know the easiest way to move my contacts over. The nearest Sprint store is just far enough to be a hassle to drive to. I had presumed that the Pre would hot sync - my bad !!

I would also like to know what people think of the calendar and task list on the Pre vs. the Treo/Centro devices.

According to the setup guide that comes with the phone, you are supposed to be able to move certain data from your palm desktop ver 6.2 or later (I have 6.2.2) to the Palm website and from there get it to your Pre. Unfortunately, my laptop crashed the day of my Pre's arrival, so I took the opportunity to clean out my old contacts while manually entering the good ones into my new Pre. No biggie. Pre backs up your data every day.
