Can a third party app get into hardware functions or would Palm have to do it themselves or have someone do it for them specifically?


I think it would be up to palm how much access a developer has. The more established developers will get more access, whereas the upstarts get a very limited access.

Yeah, sorry Wink

Well Rillo, that depends on the APIs Palm provides in the SDK. E.g. if there is one you can control the LEDs with, you could use them for, let's say a confirmation in your own applications. But maybe there won't be one because it could interfere with the gesture lights.
But you get the point: no API, no access. The more APIs that go deeper into the hardware, the more control you will have.
