I've stated this concern a couple of times but nobody has given it any thought.  I would really like to see the Pre have a led notification light.  In comparison to the feature that is on the BB, and Samsung phones.  This feature is very efficient and it makes the phone a lot much easier.  Wouldn't battery life be saved if we didn't constantly have to hit a light in order to see the home screen.  This way if we step away from the phone for a couple of minutes, we can come back and simply look for the light to be flashing.

My BB friends rave about the excitement of the red light.  I want the red light, or palm to give me the green light.  At this point, its unlikely.  Does anyone agree with me?

It is a great feature that should be included, if Palm neglects a notification LED I fear for the Pre. Leaving out basic functionality that even simple phones have would be a failure.

I definitely agree.  I don't see any signs to them having one either.  Does the Treo Pro have one? I dont' see an area where the light would be.

They haven't said anything about it yet. But the Pre does have 3 LEDs the button lights up and there is 1 LED on each side of the button. I'm sure one of these will be used. It MUST be.

I agree.

I think just about every phone I've ever seen with some sort of front facing LED was used somehow for notification.

We'll see what happens...

I love my notification LED. Works wonders. I think Palm should have the center button in the gesture area be the LED. It blinks white and you'll know you have a message or something, then press that to turn it on or something.

Yeah, it took 3 or 4 updates to get it on the instinct though. I was glad they finally put it on there. I still miss my red light on the A900 though.

See, they got us so mesmerized by the cards and synergy that some folks don't even care if they don't have even the most basic phone functions. All I read is "It's not a deal breaker". Well, I thought it was sad that I went from the A900 to the instinct and actually missed the most basic stuff. Oh I pray they don't make the same mistake they made with releasing the instinct too soon.

I can't see why it wouldn't happen... I mean if it lights up to let you know you touched the gesture area why can't it let you know there's something going on with your phone at a glance?

I say if it doesn't launch with it, it will be in the first update. And I think a big part of it will be Pre customers having consistent input on things like that.

Really? Sorry about that, probably because we already discussed about this a while ago, and all has been said there.

I still agree with everyone here, the LEDs are there, and it's so easy to use them as a missed call notifications, for example. Maybe they already did, I can't really believe that's something they left out.

Umm... I'm 70% positive that the center button lights up with a notification.
