I was working at someone's desk yesterday, and happened to look over at their phone (yes, i'm nosy, sue me).  At first I thought it was a Blackberry because of the godawful case it had on it, but when I turned it over, low and behold, it was a PRE! (or at least it used to be).  It had this horrible maroon case (think it was a Rocketfish, but not sure) but it wasn't put together right, and was kind of falling apart.  The battery door was completely ripped off and there were crumbs jammed into the charging slot.  The screen didnt just have scratches on it, but huge gouges , like someone had taken a screwdriver to it just for kicks.  The little silver piece that is attached to the earpiece was also missing, and yes, you guessed it, and crumbs packed in there as well.

I dont know about you, but my PRE is still pretty pristine, especially considering I never put a screen protector on it.  It never touches anything except for my hand and the original pouch that came with the phone (I never found a case I liked and I am kind of used to it by now).  Am I just OCD, or has anyone else here been nuts about keeping their PRE all shinny and new looking?

I put the IS on mine about a week or so after getting it. But for the time that it didn't have it, I babied the hell out of it. Going so far as to holding it with two hand as I pulled it out of my pocket. People probably thought I was smuggling explosives in that little black pouch.

I babied the hell out of mine as well until I got my IS on it.

Also, everybody is a little ocd, some of us more than others.

I also take care of my devices! A scratch on the display would be horrible.

I babied mine too until my screen protector arrived.  I don't like the black shiny surface much either.  I prefer a matte finish so it isn't a fingerprint magnet.  I purchased the 2600 extended battery which came with a soft rubber-finish back.  I like the texture a lot.  No more fingerprints or hairline scratches on the back of the phone.  Plus, my phone doesn't slide on certain surfaces like it did before.  My phone is easier to hold on to with the rubbery surface, and the extra width actually helps the keyboard to slide out quicker and easier using one hand.  I don't worry about battery life now like I did with the original battery.  Battery still has about 75% charge at the end of the day with moderate usage.  Loving that!

i dropped my pre for the first time this past weekend.

the good news is i have the clear-coat protector on the front and back.

the bad news is that the only places that aren't covered are the corners, and you can imagine exactly where the phone hit the pavement.  effing corners - who needs 'em?!

at least it was the back of the bottom corner, and it's not very noticable.  otherwise i also baby the hell out of my pre.

The 2600 is a great upgrade. I went with the Seidio as well. It drastically improves the ergonomics of the phone as well as battery life.

I cannot imagine anybody paying that much for anything and neglecting it so badly.

I love my phone.  It is in excellent condition

I dropped my Pre the 1st time it was fine. The second time however it laned on the poerbutton an pushed it it, I now have to hold/jam it in for a lot longer to turn on and off. I have pretty much just switched to sliding it open to turn it on. And I get the added beifit of it auto unlocking the screen. I am also getting a crack on my screen it started out small near the charging plug but has spread to the front display. And lastly I was running and my pre flew out of my case and smashed on the ground screen side down and slid a bit making a horrific scrap sound. The phone was for the most part astonishling ok, their are a few small gouges in the screen. I fully expected to need a new phone or at least have the screen ruined. Overall much more durable that one would expect.

My power button quit working, so I took it back to the Sprint store. He said it is happening a lot with the power button and replaced it for free.
