I thought the latest rumor was that the update was coming today the 24th? Looks that is not going to happen. Has released anything on what is going on or are they staying quiet?

I know on engadget they were saying some paid apps were supposed to come on the 24th but would require the new update to use that feature in the app store.

Anyone else hit the update button on there phone about 25 times today or am I the only one?

I think it was supposed to tell you that we found out Wednesday that the update had been delayed so we didnt waste our time, or at least, most of us didnt...   Wink

we didn't find out anything on Wednesday except that there was a "rumor" of it being delayed.  If Palm wants to be looked at as a true contender in the smartphone market they need to release something official.

Ummm...it was also a rumor that it was coming out in the first place.  Remember the "leak" happened when someone accidentally downloaded webOS doctor and flashed his phone to the new version.  There has never been anything official, a rumor about a rumor is still a rumor.  Tongue

I read somewhere that the 24th is the date for a lot of apps are supposed to hit the app catalog. These are supposed to be real, paid apps, not beta apps. I didn't hear whether or not the update was related to the apps. I'll be checking the app catalog all day. I think something is gonna happen, cuz yesterday when I tried to go to the app catalog, it wouldn't come up. Seems a little weird to me as that has never happened before. And it happened like 10 times. I'm hopin to see a bunch of apps today.

The changes to the app catalog are coming with the next update, that is why you heard the 24th.  They are making fundamental changes to it, that is part of the reason for the delay.  Here is a preview of what it might look like:

Yeah...this all started when Precentral 'Triple Confirmed' the 24th as the date of release for the 1.2 update. Palm has never, and (probably) wil never announce that an update is coming on a certain day. They may send out internal memos stating 'target dates', which will undoubtedly get leaked and eveyone will get their hopes up and when it doesn't come out they will say they are 'sick of this' or 'That's it! I'm getting an Iphone'(or whatever smartphone they could've had in the first place).

Unomile, you have it so right! Pre owners need a little patience laugh I want updates and more apps as much as the next person but I would prefer to wait until they are bug free before they are available.  I wouldn't take a free IPhone for my Pre, I love it.
